GB/T 9711-2011 PSL2 L415 SSAW Pipe Introduction
GB/T 9711-2011 L415 PSL2 is a low-carbon microalloyed steel grade for line pipes used in oil and gas transmission. Equivalent to API 5L X60 PSL2 and ISO 3183 L415, it is produced as spiral submerged arc welded (SSAW) pipes. Under PSL2 (Product Specification Level 2), the steel offers stricter chemical limits, mandatory Charpy impact tests, and enhanced toughness compared to PSL1. Typical delivery condition is as-rolled, normalized, or thermomechanically rolled, ensuring a fine-grained microstructure with balanced strength and weldability. This grade is widely adopted for high-pressure onshore and offshore pipelines.

GB/T 9711-2011 PSL2 L415 SSAW Pipe Mechanical Properties
Tensile and toughness requirements per GB/T 9711-2011 for L415 PSL2 SSAW pipe. Testing is performed on full-thickness transverse strip specimens (base metal) unless otherwise agreed. Elongation is calculated by formula Af = 1944 Axc0.2 / U0.9 where Axc is the cross-sectional area of the tensile test specimen (mm²) and U is the specified minimum tensile strength (MPa). Charpy V-notch tests are mandatory for PSL2 at 0 °C (or as agreed), using full-size transverse specimens.
| Property | Specified Value | Unit | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yield strength (ReH or Rt0.5) | 415 – 565 | MPa | Transverse, room temperature |
| Tensile strength (Rm) | 520 – 760 | MPa | Transverse, room temperature |
