Custom Machining of Rotating Helical Blades Using NM400 Wear-Resistant Steel Rolls in Abidjan

Our company has successfully completed an order for industrial components to be exported to Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire. This batch of products consists of custom-machined rotating auger blades made from NM400 high-strength wear-resistant steel plate, which will be widely used in local mining, construction materials, and agricultural bulk material handling equipment.

NM400 High-Strength Wear-Resistant Steel

During operation, the blades of screw conveyor equipment are subjected to prolonged, intense friction and impact from the material being transported. To ensure the equipment's service life and reduce maintenance frequency for our customers, we selected NM400-grade wear-resistant steel. We use high-quality, original manufacturer steel plates bearing clear factory markings and furnace batch numbers. NM400 features high hardness and excellent toughness; its wear resistance is several times that of ordinary low-carbon steel, enabling it to easily handle highly abrasive materials such as sand, gravel, cement, and mineral powder.

Precision Cutting and Roll Forming

Forming and processing high-hardness wear-resistant steel places extremely high demands on both equipment and technical expertise. During the processing stage, our technical team employs an advanced alternating cold-working/hot-working process:

  • CNC Cutting: Based on the outer diameter, inner diameter, and pitch parameters provided by the customer, the entire NM400 steel plate undergoes high-precision plasma or laser cutting.
  • Roll Forming:  The cut fan-shaped steel sheets are fed into a large specialized machine for roll forming. Through precise die and pressure control, the flat, high-hardness steel sheets are rolled into three-dimensional spiral arcs with perfect curvature and standard pitch, ensuring seamless assembly.

Assembly, Coating, and Anti-Corrosion Treatment

After the blades were formed, the engineering team performed central shaft welding and assembly testing on the semi-finished products. To withstand the high-temperature, high-humidity climate of West Africa and the conditions of maritime transport, we subjected the formed rotating spiral blades to comprehensive surface grinding and anti-corrosion coating. As seen in the actual photos, the final delivered product is coated with a uniform layer of red industrial anti-corrosion topcoat, which not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also significantly improves its corrosion resistance.

Safe Container Loading and Global Logistics

To address the challenges of transporting irregularly shaped, heavy-duty metal structural components, our warehousing and logistics team developed a specialized container loading plan. Through a rational stacking structure and secure steel wire rope lashing, we maximized the use of container space and prevented component deformation or damage to the surface paint caused by the turbulence of ocean transport, ensuring the goods arrived intact at the Port of Abidjan.

As a supplier of industrial materials and value-added processing with deep roots in the international B2B market, we are committed to providing global customers with integrated "drawing-to-finished-product" manufacturing solutions. If you have any machining needs for wear-resistant parts or conveying machinery components, please feel free to contact our engineering team at any time for professional support.
