As a general-purpose grade, it is widely recognized as the Chinese equivalent to AISI 304 / EN 1.4301. With a maximum carbon content of 0.07%, this alloy provides a good balance of corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability in a wide range of mildly corrosive environments. It is essentially the same as the old grade 0Cr19Ni10. The material is usually supplied in solution-annealed condition, ensuring a fully austenitic microstructure free from chromium carbides. Notes:

Welding: 07Cr19Ni10 can be welded by all common processes (SMAW, TIG, MIG, SAW). No preheating is required. To avoid sensitivity to intergranular corrosion, low heat input and post-weld solution annealing are recommended for heavy sections. Machining: Work hardening requires sharp tools and adequate cooling; machinability is moderate. Corrosion: Resists a wide range of atmospheric, chemical, and food environments; not suitable for chloride-rich saltwater immersion unless crevices are avoided.
