06Cr19Ni10NbN (formerly designated 0Cr19Ni10NbN) is an austenitic stainless steel standardized under GB/T 4237 for hot-rolled plates, sheets, and coils. It is microalloyed with both niobium (Nb) and nitrogen (N), combining stabilizing and strengthening effects. Niobium effectively prevents intergranular corrosion, particularly in the heat-affected zone after welding, by forming stable NbC carbides. Nitrogen increases the yield and tensile strength without significantly compromising ductility or corrosion resistance. The material exhibits excellent weldability, good formability, and high toughness at cryogenic temperatures. Typical applications include chemical processing equipment, pressure vessels, and components requiring high strength and resistance to sensitization. The standard delivery condition is solution annealed and descaled, with mechanical properties verified at room temperature.

Notes:
Heat treatment: Solution annealing at 1050°C to 1100°C followed by rapid cooling (water or air) is essential to dissolve chromium carbides and achieve optimum corrosion resistance. Welding: This grade is readily weldable by all common methods (TIG, MIG, SMAW, SAW) using filler metals with similar composition, such as ER347 or ER308L. No post-weld heat treatment is normally required due to niobium stabilization. Service temperature: Suitable for continuous use up to approximately 400°C; nitrogen addition improves high-temperature strength compared to standard 304. Corrosion resistance: Excellent resistance to a wide range of organic and inorganic chemicals, superior to standard 304 in environments causing sensitization. Resists intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-free media.
