S700MC Hot Rolled Steel Coil Introduction
S700MC is a thermomechanically rolled high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel specified in BS EN 10149-2. It achieves a minimum yield strength of 700 MPa in thin gauges, combined with good cold formability and weldability. The fine-grained microstructure, obtained through controlled rolling and microalloying, provides an excellent balance of strength and ductility.

S700MC Hot Rolled Steel Coil Mechanical Properties
Mechanical properties are guaranteed as per EN 10149-2:2013 at room temperature, using transverse test pieces. The values depend on the nominal thickness (t) of the product. The yield strength is the upper yield point (ReH) or 0.2% proof strength. Elongation is measured on a proportional gauge length (A5 for t ≥ 3 mm, A80 for t < 3 mm). Bending tests may be agreed upon at the time of ordering.

- S700MC is not designed for quench and temper heat treatments; its properties are developed through controlled rolling.
- When welding, low-hydrogen processes and preheating may be required for thicker sections to avoid cold cracking.
