Q620C is a high-strength quenched and tempered structural steel grade specified in GB/T 16270. It offers a minimum yield strength of 620 MPa in thickness up to 50 mm, combined with good toughness at 0 °C. Notes:

  • The steel should be protected from rain and moisture during storage to avoid hydrogen-induced cracking.
  • Preheating is recommended when welding thickness >20 mm; interpass temperature not to exceed 200 °C.
  • For hot forming, temperature should not exceed the tempering temperature (usually ≤600 °C) to preserve the strength.
  • Ultrasonic testing is commonly required to EN 10160 Class S2 for plates used in critical structures.
