S960QL is a quenched and tempered high-strength structural steel grade defined in EN 10025-6. It belongs to the carbon and low-alloy high-strength steel family, offering a minimum yield strength of 960 MPa and excellent toughness at low temperatures down to -40°C (L-quality). The steel is designed for heavy-duty welded structures where weight reduction and high load-bearing capacity are critical. Typical delivery condition is quenched + tempered (Q+T). The material is available as coils, sheets, and plates with a thickness range up to 150 mm. Its fine-grained microstructure combined with precise alloying provides a balanced combination of ultra-high strength, good ductility, and reliable weldability when appropriate preheating and welding procedures are followed.
