EN 10149-2 S460MC Hot Rolled Steel Similar / Close Alternative Materials
| Country / Region | Standard | Grade | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| European Union | EN 10149-2 | S420MC | Lower minimum yield strength (420 MPa); similar formability but reduced load capacity |
| European Union | EN 10149-2 | S500MC | Higher minimum yield strength (500 MPa); slightly lower formability, may require larger bending radii |
| International | ISO 6930-1 | HR460MC | Equivalent in the ISO system; comparable chemical and mechanical requirements |
| Germany (historical) | EN 10149-2 (former designation) | QStE460TM | Old grade name, technically identical to S460MC; still used in some supply chains |
| USA (approximate) | ASTM A1011 / A1011M | HSLAS Grade 65 Class 1 | Minimum yield strength ~450 MPa (65 ksi); similar concept but alloy design may differ; check formability |
Notes:
S460MC is a thermo-mechanically rolled (M) delivery condition and is not intended for subsequent heat treatment (except stress relieving). The steel offers good weldability with common methods (MAG, resistance spot welding) when using appropriate consumables. It should be stored in dry conditions to prevent corrosion. Cold forming limits must respect the recommended minimum bending radii to avoid cracking. For specific thicknesses outside the standard range, consult mill specifications.
