Notes:
- The base material is typically supplied with trimmed edges and in pickled and oiled condition to prevent corrosion during storage and to facilitate forming.
- For improved cold formability, a smooth surface finish without scale is recommended, hence pickling is applied.
- Welding: All common methods are suitable (MAG, resistance spot, laser). No preheating is generally required due to low carbon content.
- Impact toughness: If required, the verification of absorbed energy shall be agreed at the time of order. Typical values for S550MC at -20 °C (longitudinal Charpy V-notch) can reach 40 J but must be specified.
- Tolerances on dimensions and shape follow EN 10051 and EN 10131, respectively.
- Marking and documentation: The product is accompanied by an inspection certificate 2.2 or 3.1 according to EN 10204, stating the chemical composition and mechanical test results.
