ASTM A789 S32001 Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe Material Introduction

S32001 (UNS S32001) is a lean duplex stainless steel specified in ASTM A789/A789M for seamless and welded pipe. It offers a balanced microstructure of ferrite and austenite, providing high strength, good weldability, and excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. The composition contains reduced nickel and molybdenum compared to standard duplex grades, making it a cost-effective choice for many corrosive environments. Typical delivery is solution annealed, achieving a minimum tensile strength of 690 MPa with good ductility.
