Notes:
SM520C offers good weldability for its strength level; however, preheating and post‑weld heat treatment may be required depending on plate thickness and welding procedure to avoid hydrogen‑induced cold cracking. Care should be taken to control heat input to maintain toughness in the heat‑affected zone (HAZ). The steel can be cold‑formed to reasonable radii, and flame cutting does not significantly degrade edge properties when recommended practices are followed.
