Welding: Low-carbon weathering steels like S355K2G2W are readily weldable by all conventional methods, provided the heat input and cooling conditions are controlled to maintain toughness. Preheating may be necessary for thick sections. Corrosion behavior: The protective patina develops best under cyclic wet‑dry conditions and when chlorides (e.g., de-icing salt, marine spray) are minimal. In aggressive environments, a protective coating may still be required.
