S355J2H SSAW Pipe: EN 10219 Structural Hollow Section Introduction
S355J2H is a fine-grain structural steel grade standardized in EN 10219-1 for cold-formed welded hollow sections. Delivered as spiral submerged arc welded (SSAW) pipes, it offers a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa (for thicknesses ≤ 16 mm) combined with excellent notch toughness down to -20°C (minimum 27 J impact energy). The material is widely used in demanding structural applications where high strength, good weldability, and reliable low-temperature performance are required. Its balanced chemical composition ensures fine-grain practice and good formability during cold bending and further processing.
S355J2H SSAW Pipe: EN 10219 Structural Hollow Section Chemical Composition
The chemical composition is in accordance with EN 10219-1, Table 2. The steel is fully killed and fine-grain treated. Aluminum, niobium and vanadium are used singly or in combination to ensure a fine-grain microstructure. The carbon equivalent value (CEV) is limited to guarantee good weldability.
