Q-BQB 310-2009 B480QZR Automobile Structure Steel Plate Introduction
B480QZR is a hot-rolled high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel grade specified in Baosteel's enterprise standard Q/BQB 310-2009 for automobile structural parts. It is a ferritic-bainitic dual-phase steel with a minimum yield strength of 480 MPa, offering a good balance of strength, formability, and weldability. This grade is designed for structural and reinforcement components in vehicles, such as chassis parts, beams, and brackets.

Q-BQB 310-2009 B480QZR Automobile Structure Steel Plate Application Introduction
B480QZR steel is primarily used in automotive structural components where high strength and good formability are required. It can be formed by cold bending, drawing, and stamping. The steel offers good weldability with conventional methods (spot, arc welding), allowing the fabrication of complex assemblies.
Product Applications: Automotive chassis frames and subframes, Suspension arms and control links, Bumpers and reinforcement beams, Longitudinal and cross members, Seat structures and brackets, Wheel discs and rims (heavy gauge)
Processed into products: Stamped brackets and reinforcements, Bent or roll-formed profiles, Welded assemblies (spot, MIG/MAG), Hydroformed tubes, Laser-welded blanks
Application industries: Automotive manufacturing, Commercial vehicle (truck/bus) chassis, Agricultural machinery, Construction machinery (light-duty)

Notes:
Processing: B480QZR is delivered in the hot-rolled condition without heat treatment. For optimal formability, the material may be used as-received, but severe cold forming may require intermediate stress relieving.
Weldability: The low carbon equivalent (CEV typically ≤ 0.35) ensures good arc and resistance welding properties. Preheating is not required for thicknesses up to 20 mm.
Corrosion protection: The steel is not inherently corrosion resistant; surface coatings (painting, e-coating, galvanizing) are recommended for outdoor exposure.
Ordering: Specify thickness, width, flatness, surface quality (pickled, oiled), and whether special inspection or testing is required according to Q/BQB 310-2009.
