CCS AQ51 is a high-strength quenched and tempered steel grade specified by China Classification Society (CCS) for offshore and marine structural applications. It belongs to the Q51 yield strength category (minimum yield strength 510 MPa under 50 mm thickness) and offers excellent toughness at low temperatures (grade A, impact test at 0°C).
This steel is characterized by:

Mechanical properties are determined after quenching and tempering. Values depend on product thickness. Tensile test specimens are taken transverse to the rolling direction. Impact tests are performed on longitudinal Charpy-V specimens at 0°C (grade A). Bending test uses a 180° angle with defined mandrel diameter depending on thickness.
