EN 10219-1 S275MH ERW Pipe Introduction
S275MH is a thermomechanically rolled fine grain structural steel hollow section grade defined in EN 10219-1. It offers a minimum yield strength of 275 MPa and excellent weldability with a low carbon equivalent (CEV ≤0.34). The TMCP process refines the grain structure, enhancing toughness and formability while maintaining good strength. This material is suitable for cold-formed welded hollow sections (ERW) used in various structural applications where medium strength and good ductility are required. The hollow sections are available in round, square, rectangular, and elliptical profiles. S275MH provides reliable performance under static and dynamic loading, with guaranteed impact energy at 0°C (minimum 40 J). The fine grain nature ensures consistent mechanical properties across thicknesses.
EN 10219-1 S275MH ERW Pipe Chemical Composition
The chemical composition for S275MH is according to the base steel S275M as per EN 10025-4. Fine grain practice is ensured by sufficient aluminum or other grain-refining elements such as niobium, vanadium, or titanium. The low carbon equivalent (CEV) guarantees good weldability.

Notes:
S275MH is suitable for galvanizing and most coating systems. Welding should follow EN 1011-2 recommendations; preheating is not usually required due to low CEV. For severe forming, a flattening test or bend test is specified. All hollow sections can be supplied with end finishing (plain, beveled) and lengths as per order. The material is not intended for pressure equipment applications.
